Summer Wrap Up

Oakcliff Triple Crown #1

Stage 1 of the Oakcliff Triple Crown Series brought together 44 of the top North American sailors in the 49er, FX, and Nacra 17. Four of the competitors were US Olympians: Trevor Burd, Chris Rast, Paris Henken, and Anna Tunnicliffe, who has a gold medal in the laser radial... “The conditions were really puffy and tricky so our strategy was to stay consistent and take the points where we could get them…turning sixes into fours and threes into twos if we could,” said Burd...

Nearly one hundred thousand dollars of prize grants were awarded to competitors based on performance in this regatta. These prize grants will be applied towards subsidizing the costs of their Olympics campaigns.

Junior Worlds

U23 teams wrapped up the summer at the Junior World Championships in Marseilles, France last week, with Americans Lucy Wilmot and Nate Housberg leading after day 1, until the breeze really picked up for the end of the event. With one day of no wind, one day cancelled early for too much wind, and the last day called off for too much wind, it was a challenging event, but both American teams, Melges/Rowe and Wilmot/Housberg showed some really encouraging moments, and will be great benchmarks for the rest of the young US teams on the water this winter.

Some day 1 highlights here (check out Lucy and Nate hiking way harder than anyone else at :36!)
